The Raleigh Hotel in Miami!

Posted in Travel with tags , , on April 27, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

Okay…..so it is that time of the year when I just want to get away from it all and stick my head in the sand. So….of course I was daydreaming of some places that I could be right now enjoying life. Just sitting with my feet in the water.

The Raleigh Hotel in Miami is not to miss. Their pool is worth the trip in its self. It’s a little gem in Miami Beach constructed in 1940. Check it out……and better yet…..go! But remember…..I told you so!

Fun….and the MoMa

Posted in ART with tags , , , , , , on April 26, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

I just thought this was so fun…especially coming off of seeing such a great show! I got to the Tim Burton show at the MoMa finally. Three days before it closed……cutting it close. It was really amazing. Great drawings and my favorite was these small mock sculptures. So wonderful. What a creative genius. I had a blast.

The other two shows are great too. Marina Abramovic’s show was interesting to say the least. I know her work well and it just always rubs me the wrong way….and I guess that’s the point sometimes…but I’m just not a fan. I’m sure many of you heard of these nude models that are standing together in very close proximity and in order to get to the other side of the show you must wiggle between them…. with very little room. I did it and definitely felt bizarre to say the least.

Lastly, there was William Kentridge’s work and films. Always been a fan of him. So great! Check out the MoMa soon for these great shows! But too late for the Tim Burton…..it’s all packed up and shipping out!

Caneel Bay – St. John

Posted in Travel with tags , , on April 16, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

This is Caneel Bay of  St. John in the Virgin Islands. My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and it was phenomenal. Beautiful private beaches with clear water, white sand and turtles. A wonderful place.

Ladera Resort – St. Lucia

Posted in Travel with tags , , on April 16, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

Check this place out. I went there years ago and am about to go back. One day my mother and I were on the computer looking for places to go. This was back when computers called someone…..somewhere…that somehow connected us to the world wide web…haha. We found this resort and just decided it was the place to go.

It’s a beautiful resort snuggled in between the Pitons on the Virgin Islands. It’s almost like the movie the beach…but you have to travel down to the water and sand. But with the amazing foliage, atmosphere, open air rooms and private pools, there is little to complain about. Except for clouds.

Love this tee. And not only because I designed the graphic but because it’s fun and whimsical. Check it out. Find it online, at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales etc. http://www.matthewlangille.com

Jeremy Scott X adidas

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 16, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

I recently bought these sweat pants but in black with white ink. I got them at Opening Ceremony in SoHo in NYC for $90. I couldn’t resist. I loved them. Would love pockets on them….but hey……a small price to pay.  Not so into the whole Flintstones Jeremy Scott line that is out now at all….but I love a lot of his collaborations with adidas.

Delicatessen

I ate at Delicatessen a couple times recently and I like it. A bit snobbish but good fries with truffle oil. Check it out. They  have some good stuff if you’re walking around SoHo with nowhere to eat. Good Turkey Club, Burger,  and they have a fun milk and cookies dish as a desert.

The Standard Grill

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 16, 2010 by Fat People and Fashion

I ate at the Standard Grill with a client recently and loved it. Amazing ambiance and beautiful attention to detail. Almost too much attention to service……but hey you can never ask for enough people to bring water and bread. An amazing tiling of pennies creates the floor of the restaurant and the leather booths and upholstery creates a nice old school brasserie feel. I got the turkey club and it was pretty amazing with the fries to match. Check it out! But get reservations!
